“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”

One of my favorite Christmas songs was written in 1963 by Edward Pola and George Wyle and written specifically for the 1963 “Andy Williams Christmas Album.”

This is December 2022, and this song is probably in your favorite Christmas album.

Another delightful and sentimental Christmas classic is “White Christmas,” sung by Bing Crosby in 1942, and continues to inspire the spirit and memories of Christmas every year.

In 1951, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas” was made famous by singer Perry Como and is still being played at Christmas every year.

There are many celebrated and memorable Christmas and Holiday songs we enjoy each year; however, there is one humorous/silly song that takes us in a contrasting direction. Well, you decide…

“Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” was released in 1979 and sung by Elmo and Patsy.

As the song goes, A grandmother is celebrating Christmas Eve with her family and suddenly decides to go outside during a blizzard while drunk on eggnog. It seems that Grandma forgot to take her medications and is found the next day, in the snow, trampled by Santa Clause and his reindeer.

Grampa is unaffected by his wife’s demise and spends the holiday drinking beer, watching football, and playing cards with his cousin, Mel.

The rest of the family mourns her death, but Christmas dinner goes on as usual. The family believes that “a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves is unfit to carry a driver’s license.”

All four Christmas classics were written, released, and sung by singers from past (not ancient) generations and continue to be loved and enjoyed by every new generation. And chances are they will continue to be celebrated for generations to come.

  • Christmas time reminds us of what’s important in life. A dear friend told me several years ago – “Each of us is given only so much rope…so use your rope wisely”…
  • The spirit behind Christmas is that of giving and sharing, like smiling at a stranger…

  • A smile is sharing. There is nothing quite so warm as being greeted with a smile. You can light up someone’s life with this simple gesture, especially this time of year…

  • A sincere, friendly smile may wipe away a moment of despair or sadness for a stranger, a friend, or a loved one…
  • Teaches us to believe in what we cannot always see…

CHRISTMAS EDDYLINE (2022)

  • Cherishing our loved ones that we’ve lost but are forever in our hearts. That love is powerful beyond imagination…
  • Sends us a message of optimism, happiness, and kindness in our hearts…
  • And remember, a positive attitude inspires others…

And the last word before I get out of here….Stay in touch with your friends and family.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a joyous and healthy Happy New Year – 2023…

And above all, Be Good to Yourself!…
